GM begins clearance sale for HUMMER

April 21st, 2010
AutoWeek has interesting news on HUMMER. After Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery failed to receive Chinese government approval in February GM has decided to move forward with the closure of its HUMMER brand. This is following the steps of its sisters Pontiac and Saturn, while a luckier Saab did encounter a buyer. Jim Bunnell, general director of network support for GM announced this news to a group of HUMMER dealers. “This is for real”, Texas dealer Will Churchill said. “I cried big crocodile tears” To clear out the remaining cars, about 2,200 units, HUMMER plans to to run big incentives though the end of April. Potential new HUMMER owners could get benefits from signing a 0% financing for 72 months or consumer cash. GM offers $4,000 off 2010 H3s and H3Ts. $5,000 off 2009 H3Ts and $6,000 on 2009 H2s or H3s. You will be seeing massive ads in the new few days promoting this as “your last chance to buy a HUMMER”, Churchill said. HUMMER Dealers across the country already signed down wind-off agreements that give them some cash and those now go into effect. He also implied that he’ll be servicing HUMMER customers through his Cadillac franchise.
